It is important to consider how products can be re-used, re-deployed, and/or recycled at the end of their life. Whole life costing is an important part of sustainable procurement. It is only by considering the costs - both financial and non-financial - of disposal that a complete assessment of value for money can be made.
Buying Solutions is committed to ensuring that surplus products are disposed of correctly, thus minimising the damaging effects on the environment. Buying Solutions does not directly offer a disposal service, however we can offer information on the following services:
Disposal Services Agency
The Disposal Services Agency provides a fully managed service for the disposal of surplus material that encompasses the entire Government inventory, including but with the exception of land, buildings and nuclear related material:
- Furniture and domestic products
- IT Equipment
- Vehicles and spares
- Pharmaceuticals, medical and dental equipment
- Petrol, oils and lubricants
- Plant, machinery and consumables
The DSA also offers Special Waste Disposal and Recycling services for:
- Lead-Acid Batteries
- Silver Recovery
- Rubber (tyres and miscellaneous)
- Fluorescent Tubes and Lamps
- Toner and Inkjet
