Numerical model

The networks category team has created a numerical model to assist customers carrying out comparisons of local / national / 0845 / 0870 and mobile tariffs for business hours and evenings, as well as line rental tariffs.

The tool will allow you to see which of the framework suppliers offer best value when buying PSTN call minutes and lines.

The model contains all the supplier tariffs submitted as part of the telecom networks tender. The tariffs can be individually downloaded.

In order to use the model, you will need to input your own monthly usage figures as well as your current supplier’s tariffs.

The model will then create two tables:

  • Comparison of all supplier tariffs against BT’s standard tariffs, showing the percentage saving and ranking the suppliers in order of saving
  • Comparison of all supplier tariffs against your current supplier’s tariffs showing the percentage savings and ranking suppliers in order of saving

Our intention is to make the model available to all public sector customers, but please note that as the tool contains suppliers’ pricing information it should be treated as RESTRICTED – COMMERCIAL and its distribution must be controlled accordingly and in line with your departmental and organisational document handling procedures.

If you would like to receive a copy of the model please email Telecom.Networks@buyingsolutions.gsi.gov.uk, and include the following information in your email: organisation name, contact name, telephone number and personal email address.

As the model will require regular updating as tariffs change and we increase pressure for more competitive tariffs through various tactical activities, newer versions will be forwarded to you using the above contact information. We are keeping a log of everyone who has a copy so that we can ensure its currency across the public sector as effectively as possible.

Additionally, a more comprehensive comparator model is currently under construction, which will allow customers to conduct a full comparison of all lot 1 tariff combinations including international tariffs.
