Buying Solutions is investigating an opportunity that exists to create a suitable procurement vehicle for Traffic Management & Information Systems. The strategy is that any future procurement vehicle will primarily assist Local Traffic Authorities (LTA's) and other Government organisations (Police, Highways Agency, DfT) in meeting their duties under the Traffic Management Act (TMA) and facilitating the expeditious and safe transport of the public, whilst realising cashable and process savings. The scope of this opportunity potentially includes the following;

  • Traffic Signals
  • Journey time and Vehicle monitoring systems (Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Speed enforcement services, congestion charging)
  • Environmental Monitoring Systems
  • VMS Variable Messaging Signs (Inc parking signs and real time passenger information)
  • CCTV Road & CCTV Building and Security
  • Maintenance of Traffic Management Infrastructure.
  • Control room solutions (Transport planning, Urban Traffic Management Control (UTMC) based Common Database, virtualisation & simulation, consultancy and software).
  • Real Time Passenger Transport Information
  • Car Parking / Access Equipment. (Parking equipment, rising bollards)
  • Smart Card services (Oyster type services)
  • Street furniture and standard signage.
