Customer Update on the Mobile Solutions (II) Procurement
Mobile Solutions (II) framework agreements will commence in January 2009.
Mobile Solutions (II) secures existing benefits enjoyed by customers, provides new savings opportunities and satisfies the growing demand for more flexible voice and data solutions designed to meet the demands of the transformational government agenda. We will publish a summary of savings achieved and our assessment of other benefits prior to commencement of the framework agreements.
Full details of specific supplier offerings and associated charges will be provided via the Buying Solutions’ website from 1 January 2009.
In the interim we will work closely with customers to satisfy their need for specific information received in response to our invitation to tender and will facilitate communications with the suppliers as required.
Lots and suppliers
Mobile voice and data
We have refined the structure of previous agreements to better reflect the way in which customers procure commodity mobile services and have sought to address key customer needs relating to sales and service support. A broad range of mobile voice, data and combined services, catering to a variety of customer needs are to be provided for by:
- British Telecommunications PLC;
- 02 UK Limited;
- Orange Personal Communication Services Limited;
- T-Mobile (UK) Limited; and
- Vodafone Limited.
Wide-area paging and messaging
This Lot has been procured primarily for the benefit of key public sector workers working in environments where the use of messaging devices capable of transmission is restricted. This Lot also provides for a range of messaging services including for the delivery of bulk SMS messaging and network agnostic, multi-platform messaging. The suppliers are:
- 2ergo Limited;
- HTK Limited;
- Orange Personal Communication Services Limited;
- PageOne Communications Limited; and
- Vodafone Limited.
Bespoke mobile solutions
This Lot is intended to assist those customers who have needs not specifically addressed by the commodity mobile services. This includes those seeking solutions to complex and bespoke requirements, managed services and converged solutions (where mobile networks are the predominate means of delivery). All procurements under Lot 3 should be conducted using the further competition ordering procedure. The suppliers are:
- AMT-SYBEX;
- British Telecommunications PLC;
- Detica Limited;
- Orange Personal Communication Services Limited; and
- Vodafone Limited.
Timetable:
- Issue Award Letters and framework agreements to the successful suppliers, 9 December 2008.
- Supplier Induction Day, 10 December 2008.
- Execution of framework agreements, 15 December 2008.
- Commencement date for Mobile Solutions (II), 1 January 2009.
