Building and engineering (estates)

The Estates team provides the NHS with a strategic procurement service. The NHS spends each year over £300 million on estates goods and services. Our strategy involves influencing areas of high spend and those that are critical to improved efficiencies and service delivery in the NHS. Key contract and special project activities include:

  • national framework contracts (where trusts place their own orders with contracted suppliers at Agency pre-negotiated rates) for products, equipment and maintenance services
  • EMRAMPS (Estates Minor Repair and Maintenance Procurement Strategy), which is a method of building in quality controls and consistent standards to local purchasing activity
  • effective solutions for waste management from coordinating a central and national approach to contract award through procurement guidance and sustainable disposal to promoting best practice and waste minimisation
  • estate management and maintenance services
  • Procure 21 - construction projects within the NHS.
