OGCbuying.solutions changes name to Buying Solutions

OGCbuying.solutions, the national procurement partner for UK public services, announced today that it is changing its name to Buying Solutions from 6 April 2009.

It is also withdrawing the Catalist and Managed Services sub-brands in order to focus on developing Buying Solutions as a single, unified brand.

The name change is intended to clarify the difference between the respective roles of Buying Solutions and the Office of Government Commerce (OGC).  Buying Solutions remains an Executive Agency of the OGC and will continue to work closely with them.

Commenting on the change, Alison Littley, Buying Solutions' CEO said today: "Our relationship with OGC is in many ways closer than ever before, particularly, for example, in supporting the Government's collaborative procurement agenda by which aggregated demand across the public sector translates into far greater savings in price, process and resource.

"While we shared the OGC acronym there was ambiguity amongst customers and suppliers over our respective roles. OGC is about policy, best practice, assurance and coordination of cross-Governmental delivery - we are the largest delivery agent."

This new clarity and placing customer satisfaction firmly at the heart of its strategy, underpins Buying Solutions' aim to achieve savings for the taxpayer of £1 billion a year by 2010/11.
